I am Anna Somos, a Hungarian champion makeup artist, I work in the city center of Kecskemet, on Klapka Street. I have been working in the makeup profession since 2014, and as a makeup tattoo artist since 2021. I use the most modern techniques, which are known for their durability and sophisticated aesthetics. Makeup for me is not just a job, but a constantly evolving, creative world, which I can now boldly call my passion. I have been working in the makeup profession since 2014, and since then I have constantly set myself new challenges to always be at my best.
In the beginning – when my partner and I ran a photography and film business together – I did a lot of makeup for our own work, but soon other photographers approached me, so I had the opportunity to try my hand at the film industry. Over the years, the requests became more and more serious, and I finally stayed in this field, focusing on makeup.
Today, in addition to my makeup work, I live my life as a mother of a wonderful little girl, and these two things make my everyday life truly happy. Of course, it is not easy to fulfill both roles, but I always strive to stand out in both worlds alongside my makeup career and my family. I am grateful that my hobby of makeup turned into a profession, and the greatest joy for me is to be able to work in this field.
While building my career, I had the opportunity to work with Matthew Hintenberger from 2016 to 2019, who won the country’s best hairdresser award in 2018. Working together was a great honor for me, as Matthew not only performed outstandingly in competitions, but also in everyday salon work. So I was able to create makeup for him on many occasions.
In 2019, the moment came when I felt like I could measure myself. That’s when I decided to participate in a makeup competition and set myself a new challenge.
Competing was always just a distant dream for me, but with the help of great efforts and built-up self-confidence, I managed to overcome my stage fright. With the guidance of my master, Dominique Roberts, I started preparing for my first makeup competition: the 2019 Miskolc Crafts Cup.
During the preparation period, I did the planned makeup 36 times in total, which became very ingrained in my every move. However, not everything was smooth sailing: one of the biggest challenges was a model change, just two weeks before the competition.
I was terribly nervous on the day of the competition, but as soon as I picked up a brush, everything came naturally. Looking back, it was all over in a matter of seconds, and to my immense joy, I not only reached the podium, but also managed to bring home the gold medal in the Cosmetician Daytime Makeup “Tableau” category.
None of this would have been possible without the support of my family, as I had to find a lot of time and energy to prepare for this while also having an 18-month-old daughter. I believe wholeheartedly that to achieve our dreams, we need a partner who we can fight bravely for our goals. That’s why I dared to take the plunge, and the hard work and perseverance I put into it finally paid off.
My professional development as a makeup artist began with an intensive 2-week course in 2014, where I was able to build my knowledge under the guidance of makeup artist Eva Fabian. After that, I continued with Petrilla Orsi, the only airbrush instructor in Hungary, where I further deepened my technical knowledge.
In January 2016, I continued my studies with the renowned makeup artist, European and World Champion Dominique Roberts, where I mastered the precise details of Russian makeup techniques. I also learned the combinations of Aqua, Pencil, Gel Liner and Cream techniques, which are extremely important for bridal and casual makeup. Dominique’s professional career spans 16 years, and the makeup creations she uses have become recognized worldwide, so she helped me to raise my knowledge to the highest level.
Since learning is never enough, I studied with Dominique again in 2017 and 2018, and I also attended masterclasses of two other renowned Russian makeup artists in Budapest.
In the early 2020s, I was unable to provide makeup services for many months due to Covid, so I decided to look for new challenges in the world of makeup tattooing. Since I have long loved eyebrow shaping, I decided to graduate from one of the most respected makeup tattoo schools in the country, the Méhn Tünde PMU Art School. In May 2021, I successfully passed the exam in Ombre eyebrow tattooing.
Since then, I have continued my studies and participated in several of their training courses, as there is also continuous opportunity for development here.
In 2022, I attended the aqarell lips masterclass with Bee Fairies, then a bridal masterclass with Domonique in 2023, and learned an extreme Halloween makeup, also with her.
In 2024, I reached a real professional milestone when I was able to participate in an international PMU training, the famous Rosa conference. This event was special for me, as I had the opportunity to see Elena Obor’s work up close, which truly enchanted me. The experience had a profound impact on me and strengthened my desire to learn more from her.
I couldn’t wait for her to return to Budapest when she announced her intensive 1-day masterclass, and of course I quickly signed up. The training was extremely useful, as Elena Obor shared with us a lot of new techniques, tricks and secrets, which have fundamentally shaped my work ever since.
The new knowledge brought new things especially in highlighting minute details and shading techniques. Participating in the masterclass gave me the opportunity to not only get acquainted with the latest trends, but also to become even more precise in my work. Furthermore, in addition to her education and experience, Elena’s personal approach, attention and professional attitude were also a huge inspiration for me.
This masterclass further reinforced the fact that I need to constantly improve in order to achieve the best results in the world of makeup tattooing.
I started 2025 with new momentum and exciting developments! ✨
This year I started with an eyelash lift training, which gives me the opportunity to apply the latest trends and techniques to my clients. An eyelash lift is a real magic that spectacularly lifts and shapes the eyelashes, thus ensuring a natural, yet perfectly highlighted look! 💖
